It is a pleasure to “meet you.” My name is Amanda Lichtenberg, and I am honored to be a board member of Alice James Books.

I give monthly to AJB as a way of being actively committed, to do a piece of the work every single month because intentions and steady impact matter. Remember that ad campaign that said, “Set it and forget it”? Yeah, it’s not like that. 

Why am I committed to AJB? To me, Alice James is a stunning example of an organization that is doing its work. It started as a poetry collective striving to help women be heard and published; a desire and reality that has persisted for nearly 50 years! In 2020, AJB has created an immense track record of collaborating with literary artists of excellence who might otherwise go unheard. Our focus remains on providing a platform for voices from—oftentimes-untapped communities to be heard, and we can’t stop now. 

Monthly giving is a way to demonstrate collective intention. Consider sending AJB a monthly donation, a commitment, a response in gift form: 5 bucks, 10, or 100 (I like round numbers). Or how about choosing an amount that when multiplied by 12 (stay with me, I'm a poet who majored in Bio, not English) is greater than 2020. Which means $169 per month. Or $169 per year, which comes to about $15 per month. Or you could support AJB in other ways, such as buying our books a la cart or through the annual subscription, which is an amazing deal.
