The Trans-Siberian Railway
The Trans-Siberian Railway
Cornelia Veenendaal
“Veenendaal’s poems, like her railroad, are penetrating, mysterious, echoing, always tracking forward into the emotional and intellectual unknown.” —Shelly Neiderbach, Library Journal

Additional Praise:
”Like the figure of her Orpheus, Cornelia Veenendaal ‘walks lightly, gliding / looking always ahead;’ like his, her eyes ‘are in the world with love.’ There is a sweetness in the voice of these poems, an abstemious poignancy, that strikes to the heart again and again; an intensity allied to the art of the haiku in its brilliance, ease, and control. Intensity is the word for this poet: not the familiar, big-muscled sort, but as silence in meditation defines the intense. She should be required reading for those writers who confuse singing with the roar of white noise” —Barry Spacks
