Shara McCallum to Publish Fourth Collection With Alice James Books

Alice James Books welcomes back poet Shara McCallum for her fourth AJB collection, Behold, forthcoming in September 2026.

On Behold, Alice James Executive Director and Publisher Carey Salerno says: “Behold traverses territory McCallum is known for: history, interiority, identity, the way bodies present themselves in the world. The poems also feel so deeply intimate. The lyrics drive the musicality of the soul, and the prose pieces bring a swordlike sharpness of observation and interconnection to the book's landscape.

These poems communicate about fulfillment, connection, the labor of seeking, loss and missing, and the history carried within the speaker. They are meditations on the existence of place within us, the way it is seeded within and seeds us.”
