Editorial Board Membership Inquiry
We are grateful for your interest in learning about how AJB’s editorial board makes meaningful contributions to the press and to our literary culture. AJB is committed to helping its writers tell stories that matter and connect with broad audiences across the globe.
AJB’s editorial board is composed of volunteers who are responsible for reading and judging the press’s annual manuscript competition, the Alice James Award–a national award.
Qualified editorial board members will have at least one book of published poems. Many will have an existing relationship with the press as prior or current authors in addition to editorial, educational, and/or teaching experience.
Editorial board members work cooperatively and ethically in harmony with the mission, work, and vision of the press. Each member pledges to uphold the high standards AJB sets for its reading ethics and protocols and to read/screen at least 75 manuscripts during the AJA screening period. Finalist round reading and meeting work occurs thereafter.
We invite individuals who feel called to service, and that they might match the press’s needs, to submit an inquiry to us using the form below.
